The Importance of Annual Safety Balance & Reverse Inspections

A garage door is the heaviest moving object in a home. These two checks confirm it will stop when it should.
The balance test
With the opener disconnected, the door should lift smoothly by hand and hold at waist height. Drifting means the springs are out of tension.
The reverse test
Lay a 2x4 flat under the door and close it. The door must contact the board and immediately reverse. If it doesn't, the close force is set too high.
The photo-eye test
Wave an object through the beam while the door closes. It should reverse instantly, every time.
Document and repeat
We log every inspection so you have a maintenance record — useful for warranties and at resale.
